Your Story - Chrissie Pearce
A Little Bit About Chrissie!
I originally qualified in Jan 2009, I decided to do nails as I broke my back when I was 15 and then after an accident at work I did unrepairable damage- and therefore needed a job that I could do sitting down! Alsongside working at a hotel on St Marys, Isles of Scilly, Cornwall, I trained via college to do NVQ Nails.
Id always enjoyed having my nails done and after doing art etc at school I thought I would give it a go- and loved it!
After two seasons on the remote island I lived on, it was time to move back to the mainland with my partner and we bought our first house, I then just did a few nails here and there as a hobby then as word got about I started out part time and never intended to rely on it as a career and even though Im busy now I still see it as a hobby!
In 2010 I went to Exeter College and took a 2 week fast track course for more experience but I found although I enjoyed Acrylic I was drawn more to Hard Gel, I'd used NSI from the start and always made my own cover pinks with Body Builder Warm and some other colours, and I found I was quite good at nail art - word spread around very quickly that you could have so much more than French nails! And clients were booking in with me for some crazy nail art!
I gave birth to my daughter in October 2010 and only had 10 days off and that xmas was the busiest ever and some of those clients are still with me today! In November 2011 I was so busy I had to decline clients and started a waiting list, 2 years on I can no longer add to this waiting list as in 3-4 years only 5 clients have left me! So its fab to say all of my work is from repeat custom.
As I got more well known, more and more Nail Technicians added me on Facebook and Followed me on Instagram, and each day I was answering questions on where I got my products, how I used them and how to design nails, I see so many nail techs recreating my designs and I love that I can inspire them! I then struck up a fabulous friendship with Gemma Lambert a couple of years ago, who told me she was looking through my photos all the time before we got talking and I have learnt so much off her and she has pushed me to go further!
Now Im constantly being asked if I can teach nails and nail art which has spurred me on to do my PTTLs course, which I have just completed and Im about to send my courses off to ABT to be accredited, so Im very excited!
And even more excitingly being offered the chance to come and Demo Gel on the stand for you NSI made my year!!
